Daniel Fast Day 4

4 Jan

Good evening!!!

Today was a good day! I meditated a lot of Psalms 138:8 “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me”. I know in my heart I do not like soda yet I wanted Barq’s rootbeer today, I wanted to eat another meal besides my normal routine.

I was driving in the car and my stomach started talking to me. I decided to say a silent prayer to myself since there was another passenger in the car. I asked God to fill me up with His word since my mind is playing tricks on me. The devil is playing tricks on me. He is telling me to eat whatever I want and that I will not make it through this fast. As soon as I reached my destination I started reading the Word. I had to. I went to sleep after no longer having hunger pangs just filled up with the Word. Sometimes God doesn’t answer ours prayers immediately but He does answer them. We have to just listen for His voice and be patient. He answered my prayer today and I am grateful for a faithful God.

Today I ate a little different. My body wasn’t agreeing with me today everything I ate gave me an upset stomach.

Breakfast: Hummus with flat bread

Lunch: salad with broccoli, raw sunflower seeds, cucumbers, carrots, and avocado with an olive oil and red pepper dressing that I made.

Dinner: stir-fry vegetables with no rice

Snacks: popcorn, raw mixed nuts with organic dried apples, and more hummus.

This afternoon I read Revelation 7-9 for bible study this evening and Luke 3 for the fast.

It’s so important to drink lots of water during this process it helps a lot with hunger. I miss chewing gum.

Sounds inspiring! I’m going to keep what you’re doing in mind as I start a cleanse next week. I want to go for 21 days with only raw foods, juices and smoothies.

You are doing great Nadie. I hear you on the hunger pangs. You could try eating sweet potato to feel you up since I find it filling. Also kale with sautéed onions and tomato and a touch of salt is very tasty. I usually would add cream when I make it but in this case I cannot add it. You can make a fruit salad or a general salad. You can eat roasted corn on the cob. Esparagus with black pepper and salt. Trying to think of tasty meal ideas. I’m almost thinking that I’m crashing without my tea. I love tea and these past two days seemed like no big deal bu clearly they are a big deal to me but I will keep on pressing on with my “tasty” water bottle lol. You’re doing great girl keep it up 😉

While I was ending my recent (juice/water) fast, I made roasted butternut squash. I had never made it before, but found it delicious! Just peel the squash, cut in half, scoop out seeds, cut into bite size pieces, then toss in a bowl with 1 Tbs 0 olive oil. Season if desired and spread on a cookie sheet. Bake at 400 F for 30 minutes.

I see you are a gum chewer. I have been since I quit smoking over 10 years ago. I used he opportunity of my fast to toss the gum and decided i would not go back to it. I had built up quite an emotional attachment to it and I decided I would rather have a stronger attachment to my Lord.

Keep it up, you’re doing great, and God bless you!
